Where we stand

TrackYourShelves is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA. Partially conformant means most of it meets the standard and some of it does not. We would rather name the parts that do not than claim a level we have not had checked.

This matters beyond us. Booking pages built here are used by a merchant’s own customers, and a customer who cannot book is a customer that business has lost. So the public booking page is the part we hold to the highest standard.

What is in place

Keyboard, throughout
Every control is a real button, link, input or select rather than a clickable div, so the whole of the booking flow and the app can be operated without a mouse. Focus outlines are never removed, only recoloured to match a merchant's branding.
Choices announce themselves
On the public booking page, the selected location, service and time are marked as pressed rather than being distinguished only by colour and a border, so a screen reader says which one is chosen.
Labels are attached, not adjacent
Form fields on the booking page are wrapped by their label, so the label is announced with the field and tapping it moves focus into it. Errors are announced when they appear rather than only rendered.
Text on a merchant's own colour stays readable
A merchant chooses one brand colour and everything else is derived from it. Text placed on that colour is calculated from its relative luminance, so a pale brand gets dark text and a dark one gets light text instead of a fixed white that disappears.
Type does not shrink on a phone
Inputs on the booking page are set at 16px, which is the size below which iOS Safari zooms the page on focus. That leaves people scrolling sideways through a form.
Decoration is hidden from screen readers
Icons and chart bars that repeat information already present as text are marked as decorative, so they are not read aloud twice.

What is not, yet

These are the gaps we know about. There may be others we do not know about, and that is what the next section is for.

No independent audit
Nothing here has been verified by an accessibility specialist or with assistive technology by somebody who uses it daily. Our own testing is not a substitute for that, and until it happens this page says partially conformant.
Choice groups are toggle buttons, not radio groups
Picking a time or a service announces its selected state correctly, but the group does not support arrow-key navigation the way a native radio group does. Tab reaches every option.
Brand colour contrast is not enforced
We calculate readable text for the colour a merchant picks, but we do not stop them choosing a colour that fails contrast against a white background elsewhere on their page.
Some older screens in the app lag behind the booking flow
The public booking page has had the most attention because it is the one a merchant's customers use. Parts of the admin area have not been reviewed to the same standard.

Tell us about a problem

If something here does not work for you, write to support@trackyourshelves.com. Tell us what you were trying to do, which page, and what you use to browse. That is usually enough for us to reproduce it.

We answer accessibility reports before other support, and we will tell you what we found even when the answer is that it will take a while to fix.

How this page is kept honest

Every claim above was written against the code rather than from a template, and when one stops being true it comes off this page as part of the change that made it untrue. A statement that quietly goes stale becomes a claim that is no longer accurate, published on purpose.
